Hi all, after 9 years of smart cars we have just bought an IQ2 2012reg (don't like the new smart and no auto option until Jan 16 ) and must say we are very impressed with it so far, the only thing that we really miss is the bluetooth hands free which was standard with the smart passion. My question is have anyone here ever fitted a parrot hands free kit to their IQ themselves, and if so is it an involved job of can a confident DIY er do it?? Great forum by the way. look forward to any replies thanks in advance

Hello and welcome. I have fitted the iO Play bluetooth system. I am very happy with it, it was easy to fit and works very well for streaming music from phones as well as handling phone calls and reading out text messages.

Fitting a Parrot kit involves stripping various bits of the interior. There's a screen/control buttons to fit somewhere (depending on which particular Parrot), the mic to route to wherever you want it, the "brain" to hide somewhere, and the stereo needs to come out to fit the wiring to it. The stereo can sometimes be tight to refit due the extra wiring behind it. If none of that scares you then you'll be able to do it.

Yes I fitted it myself (easy), But no there is no provision for plugging in USB or SD to this system. Take a look at my thread to get an idea to my mods http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/129583-soeleys-iq/

Thanks for the reply Mark and the link that I have just spent an hour reading hehe, you have been very busy mate and the car looks great, never seen another one like that yet

Thanks for the info Alan, I went into Halfords yesterday just to have a look at the parrot models and have decided to get the 9200 as it has the SD card and USB facility as the Mrs like her music, also they can fit it for £49 so I might let them fit it

Update.....Got the Parrot MKi9200 kit in the end and fitted it myself without any problems, I was surprised how easily the dash panels come off, used a SOT lead so no need to cut into the wiring, very impressed with the functions and sound quality when playing music through it, hands free quality and voice recognition is as good as the command system that I have got in my Merc. Overall would recommend the 9200 and save yourself £50 by fitting it yourself
