Hi

Can anyone suggest some things to check on this?

Car was running fine last night. Got in it this morning and turned the key and it won't start. Just getting a constant clicking noise. Fairly loud under the bonnett. I noticed the clock has reset too, so seems electrical. Almost as if the Battery has been flat or disconnected but nothing was left on like lights or anything.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

First things first I would get a Battery check done if you can. The constant clicking is the starter relay not having enough voltage to keep it energised.

Thanks. Will get the multimeter on it tonight. What's the best way of determining if it's the Battery or the alternator?

Using the voltmeter you will be at least able to tell if there's charge going into the Battery because it should read over 14v with the engine running, but I'm not an auto electrician but any means do there may be others with more info for you.

1 - put car in 2nd gear and try to rock back and forward.

2 - tap the starter motor with a wrench or a small hammer.

3 - stick the multimeter on the Battery crank without car in gear if vaoltage drops quickly your Battery is furbared.

- Drops past 11v (11.2v normally indicates the Battery is flat)
