Hi

Thank you for both the welcome and the link to the key program link. I will go and see my dad tomorrow and see if we can get his new key working. I will post our results tomorrow at some point.

Thanks again

Hi all

In response to the link regarding the key programming, I'm afraid to say it didn't work. The key opens and locks the door manually but will not work on the remote buttons. Looks like a trip to Toyota. Thanks for your time in posting the link

Kind regards

My wife has a 2012 Toyota AYGO. The plastic on the key with the lock and unlock has broken where the buttons are. We have purchased a new key and I have swapped the blade and fitted the the pcb in it.The push buttons work fine but although the ignition comes on the engine will not fire. It still works with the non button key. How can I get the key to start the car?

You have probably left the "chip" in the old key, it needs to be changed over to the new key, without it the new key is useless and will never start the car. Open the old key up, it is a tiny little black microchip lodged in the inside of the key housing, just lifts out, put it in the new key, Bingo!! Car will start

This used to happen all the time over on the Peugeot forum with these older type key cases.

Hopefully the old case hasn't been thrown away.

Parts-King. Thank you for that answer. Unfortunately I never saw that and it was 2 dats ago so if it was dropped it is long gone. I will have to buy a replacement key. It is not in the key now.

You can source the transponder chips separately if you can find out which type it is.

You will need to find someone with diagnostic equipment to plug in to the vehicle & program the chip.
