Hi everyone,

This is my first post so Hi to you all and please can you help!

I have seen a 2005 Toyota Corolla VVTL-I T Sport at a dealer in Preston. Their Auto trader advert says it has 189ps but when I went for a quick look last night they reckon their system says it has 127ps ( I haven't driven it yet) .

When I look online I cant find a 127ps version of this car though I am aware that Toyota have a 127ps version of the 1.8. I paid for an autotrader vehicle report and that says the engine is a zz2.

Is the dealer wrong or am I?

One final thing, the exhaust is a bit knackered. Is this potentially silly money?

Thanks in advance.

Darren

PM Me the registration number and I will tell you for certain. I think they are actually 191 PS

many thanks to parts King who is a super star!

Does anyone have any thoughts on the exhaust costs?

Thanks again

It is in two parts, front pipe and cat, and back box. The back box is £217, (3 year warranty) but the cat is £1000. I am sure there will be people making pattern parts, my only gripe with pattern cat pipes is they only last 5 minutes, we replace them regularly for customers who bought none genuine and are fed up with the failure rate

Thanks again,

I'll have to make sure the cat is OK. Its a third of the value of the car!

If you have to replace the exhaust system then suggest you look at a stainless steel replacement, especially if you want to keep the car for a few years. Wil probably be cheaper and last a lot longer.

Thanks ken. I've no doubt you are right but at seventy odd thousand miles I bet it only lasts another couple of years so regular stuff will last as long as I need it to I guess. We will see.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome I received here. I finally got to test drive the T sport properly today and it just wasn't for me. No sign at all of 190bhp, a nasty clutch, loose feeling controls and a very odd sounding engine.

The people at the dealership were lovely and sought to address my concerns with a smile. Sadly I just didn't like the car at all.
