Engine Doesn't Crank - Intermittent

Barnsley Tyke

I have a 2004 2.0 D4D. Often when I turn the ignition key nothing happens, all dash lights are on but nothing from starter motor, and I don't hear any clicks. On returning the key to the off position and retrying the car starts normally.

Having read some of the topics on the forum I think this is probably the ignition switch assembly.

Does anyone agree that I am on the right track before I spend £75 on a part 84450-05040.

Also, is there anything I should be careful with when fitting this?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You are on the right track. That is definate symptons of the ignitions switch failing intermittently. It will get worse.

This is a common Toyota issue, and is easy to change (for me).

Check the Battery and starter 1st before spending money on a switch if not needed?

Thanks for the advice all.

I will test the Battery and starter first, before going any further.
