My factory fit 6 spoke 15" alloys have a bit of light scuffing arond the rims, plus some bubbling of the paint around the concave hub nut area.

Seems to have them properly refurbished cost around £400 to £500 and means the car is off the road for a full week... a total non starter.

Have seen some Ytubes of diy refurbishment, cheaper maybe , but a massive amount of time and effort needed.

On the cheap diy market there seems to be the £11 small bottle of touch up paint and laquer or the £23 sets of spray cans.

Wondered how good thoes methods are , anyone got expereince of using them ? or if there are any other things I have missed ?

Also wondered about those Alloy Gaitors at £59, suppose they would save a lot of work, but wondered how good, or bad they really look and do they actually last ok ?

Any thoughts / experiences welcome.

Hi

I agree...having those wheels fixed can be costly...may be a better idea to buy some after market alloy wheels.

If you do decide to have them fixed though...you could have them sprayed or have them powder coated...both have their pro's and con's!

If it were me I'd go for it DIY...time consuming but worth the effort.

As for Alloygators...had a black set on mine a couple of years back...very easy to fit...deflate tyre...attach clips to gators...place...cut to diameter...knock it all down sensibly with a mallet...inflate tyre...HOWEVER I had them on for just under a year...hit a kerb at a round about one time...and one came off half way round ...and I can promise you that they were fitted to the "T" and seated properly on each wheel...also once kerbed they start to look tatty in my opinion...yes you can shave them back very carefully with a Stanley blade...but I had enough of them and took them off in the end and binned them...its easier to just drive more carefully!!! lol, I suppose it is an option to cover up your untidy looking wheels...worth a pop if you get them cheap on E Bay.

Good Luck mate.
