Cable/wire Replacement For Carina Window Regulator?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 1997 Carina E and the N/S/F electric window control cable/wire has snapped. I have seen replacement regulators on eBay for ~£70 but I would rather just replace the cable itself. Can anyone recommend a source of replacement cables? I can find them for lots of other cars (including Corolla and Avensis), but not for the Carina!

I have the motor pulley stripped down ready for a new cable ( and the window currently held shut with a G-clamp on the regulator) and need to find a new one soon!

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

I used a bicycle brake cable on a Laguna's window a while ago, held at the end with those barrel type cable stops - again, bought from the local bike shop. Total cost about two quid IIRC. It worked fine for the following couple of years while we owned the car, albeit marginally looser than the other windows.

I gave the bicycle cable idea a go but it snagged up inside the motor pulley. The final solution last night was to drill and bolt through the window runner so that it can't fall down. That will have to do until I find a cheap regulator!

Thanks for your help!
