Yorkshire Newbie: Hi - What To Look For When Buying A Yaris?

Did a quick research

MMT is the older trouble-some MultiMode Auto

CVT is the newer better MultiDrive auto

But the Hybrid seems to be noisy and a little unwieldy on motorways?

So don't think any of the above is for me - unless I really really want a good investment on the hybrid....

Yaris hybrid is perfectly fine and capable on the motorway and will be no noisier than any other CVT auto if you want to plant your foot at speed. This is my main gripe with the crap the motoring press spiel at times.

Best thing to do is test drive them and see what you think.

Thanks - I read it from a few owners as well :fear:

Go and try the cvt model, be it the hybrid or standard car - you may well not like it. Not everyone likes automatics.

Actually I am an auto person - lol

But decided to chose manual due to the smaller Yaris engine... :driving:

Parkers states even the auto petrol is MORE efficient and less TAX and similar performance to the manual petrol 1.33 - WOW .....hmmmm....

You've lost me on that logic.

Some of the best autos are in smaller cars imo.

Sounds like you need to have a rethink :)

LOL

Yes I MAY have too!

Here s my logic: Auto Scooby 242bhp petrol 0-60 8.2sec

Auto DSG Skoda 170bhp diesel 0-60 8.6sec

In the past smaller engines (less powerful, slower)

In the past autos (more tax, less mpg, no power and hesitant gear changing)

If the smaller Yaris CVTs have changed all that - then I would prefer an auto :-)

But, didn't want the 1.33 to struggle - so is the 1.33 CVT good to drive city, motorway, overtaking?

What is good to drive for one person isn't always the same for another and then factor in that all cars can have their quirks despite being the same spec.

You really need to drive one of each and then start your quest for a purchase.

As above. The auto is likely to struggle no more than the automatic, it's the engine which will normally define how well a car keep up in traffic.

Just take some for a TD and see how you find them :)

U mean "manual" :)

I only discounted the auto - because I was looking at Mk2 MMTs and heard about the problems.

Now my budget is stretched to Mk3 - maybe the CVT is better due to newer tech etc
