Surf 1kz-te Losing Power

Alright so I've just bought my first surf and it is brilliant to drive.

However what has begun to happen is when I am driving the vehicle, the check engine light will turn on and the vehicle will lose most of its power. The problem seems to be intermittent as the engine runs fine, and it only happens sometimes. Perhaps some kind of sensor?

Any knowledgable people out there that could help me to pinpoint exactly what's going on here?

The vehicle has recently had the EGR system removed and blocked off. Not sure if that is relevant to my issue or not.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A TOYOTA HILUX SURF SSRX TURBODIESEL.I AM LOOSING POWER WHENEVER I TRY TO PASS ANOTHER CAR VERY POOR ACCELERATION AND THE CHECK ENGIN LIGHT SHOWS ON THE BOARD.I AM OPEN FOR ANY HELP.
