Smart Entry System

Hi,

A couple of questions:

1) I read on the forums here (I think) that you can double-lock the doors by tapping the key on the door handle twice. I can't however find mention of this in the manual for the latest version. Does this feature work/still exist?

2) Is there a way to make it so the smart entry system always only unlocks the drivers door? It states that only the drivers door will unlock if the vehicle was not entered for 14 days. This would be useful for example in a car park where you only want to get in the drivers side and not allow the passenger doors to be opened.

Welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Presumably you have a 2015 spec Yaris, as the 2016 model year Yaris isn't on sale yet.

Do you have the full owners manual or the abbreviated manual?

Hi,

Yes - the 2016 was a mistake on my part. I thought it came out in August, and as I just ordered, thought it would be that model year.

Full owners manual I think (I am currently referencing the latest manual from the Toyota UK website).

By default, the smart entry system comes so that only the driver's door unlocks on its own with either a button push on the fob or one touch of the driver's door handle (if that is fitted). a second push/touch opens the other doors. There is a way of changing this behaviour to open all doors with one push/touch and I did it to mine soon after I got the car but it is so long ago now, I've forgotten how I did it... I'm sure someone else on here will remind me...

Great!

Great!

Ignore everything I previously said about isolating the door locks on the Yaris. I was wrong and confusing it with the way the GT86 works (my previous car). Double-locking the doors still works and is valid however...
