1998 Rav4 - Should I Avoid If It's Been Welded?

Evening all.

I'm going to look at a 1998 RAV4 gx on Saturday. It sounds fantastic with the same owner for 15 years and only 65k miles with full service history.

My only concern is that the owner has told be it needed welding for last mot. Apparently it was under the arches where the seatbelt anchor points are. She has receipts confirming the work has been done.

My question is, how common is this? Is it a plus point that it has been addressed, or should I leave well alone as this is uncommon Problem and could indicate future problems?

Thanks for your help

My sons previous 1996 Rav 4 needed sills welding a couple of years ago, so not uncommon. The car is 17 years old and if thats all it needed thats pretty good, alot of cars are scrap at that age and as you said its a problem that has been attended to.

Thanks for the response. I think it's definately worth a look. My concern was that this maybe rust that has been treated as it's an mot fail, but might be a sign of further problems yet to come.

The rest looks really tidy...so fingers crossed
