Avensis Mk2 2008 Tourer Rear Light Gaskets

As above, i've noticed both my rear lights are leaking water into the main housing which is blowing my brake lights, which i believe has now made my ABS, TRC off & VSC lights come on.

Toyota want £15 a light for the new gasket, anyone recommend anywhere else to get or know of someone that can get on the cheap?

Cheers

Ash

I head the same issue with my 2006, and I tapped the metal surrounding the aperture where the bolts go through on the car inwards slightly to create a tighter seal with the gasket. Worked for me, no leak since.

Good idea will give that a go.

another alternative is to drill a small drain hole at the bottom of the unit to allow the water to flow out (having had a T25 Tourer myself with leaking rear lights I imagine that it is water pooling inside that is the problem rather than just water running down inside?).

had water ingress into my boot wheel well when i bought my car

sounds common

mines a hatchback but should be similar

found my light mountong nuts had slackened

solution for me

remove rear lights to dry out condensation/ mist

remove foam type reusable gaskets to dry out over night

refit next day but for added protection i applied some of my ha6 marine silicone ( similar to tiger seal) to either side of the gasket upon refit

been dry in my boot for 2.5 years and can still access to change bulbs
