Ok..... I have just bought a Rav4 2002 which had an MOT in July and full service history. On the MOT was a fault light sensor fault fixed. However, this has come on again and my garage has told me it is the catalytic converter plus something else - which is a rather large cost. I have been told that the RAV4 has a fault in this computer system - Car is running like a dream and temp is perfect. Any help would be much appreciated - PLEASE

Without knowing what the fault was historically and what the current fault is it's impossible to tell if they are related or relevant, in much the same way that not knowing what the 'something else' is and the 'large cost' it's impossible to tell what's going on. Also not sure what the temp has to do with anything, if you're on about coolant temp is a largely itrelevant and only useful in diagnosing fan/thermostat failure and overheating, neither are emissions related.

The only help I can really offer is a new cat is circa £120 inc VAT, fitting and consumables are extra, I don't know what you paid for the car but I'd imagine it was a lot more than that. If you post details of what's actually wrong and what you're being quoted for it'd make things a lot easier.
