1997-2003 Avensis Service Manuals

Hi! I am looking for service manuals for 1997-2003 Toyota Avensis. All links I've found are dead. I'll be very grateful for any help. My car is a 2001 Avensis Liftback with a D4 1AZ-FSE. Jan

I'm pretty sure there's a Haynes manual available for that car. Maybe there are some second hand ones going cheap on eBay?

Yes Haynes covers the all the petrol Mk1 Avensis. It covers the servicing and repairs of most parts of the car. Got one for my car.

The only thing Haynes does not cover is the diagnostics and electronics. For the Avensis from 2000 onwards, a diagnostics code reader will cover the engine management faults, as they are OBD2 compliant.

I did download a PDF for my Mk1 7AFE, but the links have died. I will see if it covered the vvti.

Thought you could only download owners manuals and the service (workshop?) manuals are only available to view on-line?

I don't know for sure because I seem to have a problem accessing any manuals on that site so I gave up.

Owners manuals for current models are available foc from "My Toyota" service/technical info for a fee from toyota-tech.eu

My PDFs only relate to the pre-vvti Avensis and not the later revised cars.

The pdf files are very detailed.

I also have copies (on my computer) of (some of?) the proper manuals made by Toyota for this model. They are useful for diagnosing faults. I can't remember where I downloaded them from, but I can share them. I'm at work at the moment, but I'll try to share them tonight. Remind me if I forget.

Here is the next one, it contains the repair manual for collison damage (BRM075), the chassis/body manual for vehicles from october 1997 to december 2002 (RM599), supplemental chassis/body manual for vehicles from august 1999 to december 2002 (RM698), supplemental chassis/body manual for vehicles from july 2000 to december 2002 (RM791), the electrical wiring diagram for vehicles from october 1997 to december 2002 (EWD330), supplemental electrical wiring diagram for vehicles from may1999 to december 2002 (EWD373), supplemental electrical wiring diagram for vehicles from july 2000 to december 2002 (EWD418), new car features for vehicles from october 1997 to december 2002 (NCF145) and supplemental new car features for vehicles from july 2000 to december 2002 (NCF195). Unfortunately it doesn't contain any manuals for the engines or automatic transmission (even if the folder is there), but this was how I downloaded it. It is much larger than the first file I uploaded (566MB), so downloading will take longer. Please let me know if you have trouble downloading it.

Jan I know you can get the actual manual  1998-2003 fairly easily still. 

I got mine from Halfords a few years ago but they still are a lot of places you can buy one new or second hand.

However if you go to the link put your reg in you should find it on pdf format to as mine certainly was two years ago on that link.
