Why Is My Corolla D4d Interior Falling Apart?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I have a 2004 D4D Corolla and it is falling apart from the inside...

(i) The CD player has come out of place by an inch

(ii) I dont know the exact name of this next part but its an interior panel as you open the door, its made out of plastic? Anyways that has fallen off

(iii) On the front passenger side, where the switch to open/close the passenger window is located, that plastic panel has also come loose!

What should I do? Does the Toyota Warranty cover any of the apparent poor workmanship? It'd be interesting if any of you have had a similar experience...

On an 11 year old car, if the only faults you have are a CD player that is coming out of it's housing, and issues with two interior panels, think you need to take a reality check.

If it is a Toyota extended warranty you have, then coverage is detailed here: https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/warranty/extended-warranty.json

to be honest I do not see your points as major flaws, Have you owned any other make of cars?

You know what, in hindsight, yeah I think you're right; maybe I am expecting too much.

Well my family has had numerous cars and they didn't have these issues. I think its to do with how well built the interior is, for example, my brothers' 55 plate astra has a solid interior, as does the fabia.

So much for tspirit...

maybe the interior lasts longer in a vauxhall or a skoda, sadly other components don't and are more expensive than interior plastics ( I have owned a few vauxhalls and will never again) if it really bothers you replace the interior plastic. I doubt Toyota will help on a 2004 car.

If you haven't had the car from new, perhaps how well the interior has stood up to usage, depends on how it was treated by a previous owner.

Mines a 2004 1.6 Tspirit.....everything seems solid enough with the exception of couple of bits which I know the resons why they are lose. Some hooks that hold the panel for the sig lighter have broken off, probably due to some roughneck grease monkey not taking care when removing them.

I am pretty much sure that is what has happend in your case, they probably didnt secure the cd player in place. Think how many garages its went and the number of different mechanics been round it.

Don't know of any roughneck grease monkeys refusing to take cake but I have known plenty of roughneck ham-fisted car owners not taking care when working on their cars.
