I'll keep mine until I can save enough to buy a plugin or new shape Auris with a bigger boot. Now I know I like hybrids, I'll definitely have another. Maybe light the girlfriend have the old one.

Saw a Prius plugin while I was taking something to the recycling centre and then saw the same car later at the supermarket. I know it was the same car, the same old bloke got out of it.

Well

Got car back from dealer ref new seals for rear cluster lights 

 

This morning STRONG smell like sealant in car. Thought they just squash the seals in place?

 

They use sealant/glue too now?

Changed my first bulb this week, nearside tail light. Didn't take long either.

Bit disappointed that I haven't been able to test the crossclimate tyres out in the snow, Just not had any real snow, to have a go in.

When I win the lottery 

On a positive note still have an average of 56Mpg with the cross climate on. I'll experiment with an extra 2 psi in the tyres next week, just to see if I can eek out a few more mpg

I would pump them up to 36 at least. You should see a noticeable improvement. I will be checking what the max is on the sidewall, if it's 44, then I'll make it 40. Even Toyota had suggested that, as someone on here pointed out in their blog.

There are both positive and negative effects to increasing the tyre pressures beyond the ideal recommended by vehicle manufacturers, which include:

a smaller contact patch with the road; lower rolling resistance which may improve fuel consumption; an adverse effect on braking and handling; increased road noise and an effect on ride comfort; tyre wear may be greater in the centre of the tread.

Since Wayne's Auris and mine are the same, I was only quoting what my manual suggests for motorway speeds.

That's fine, but keeping tyres at a higher pressure all the time may lead to the issues highlighted. My Auris' had the same tyre pressure recommendations.

I don't drive much on motorways, just like getting the most miles out of my tank.

The 40 I was talking about was the maximum pressure, today I have checked mine and it show 50 psi.

If you are happy with 33, you might as well stick with it.

I am determined to get 500 miles per tank, for the long trips.

At the end of the month I'll be going for the Jorvik festival in york, girlfriends son is taking part again.

Yes the max is 50 psi written on the sidewall, these tyres are extra load.

How much water?

Very little water - few drops

But I ain't taking no chance as car still under warranty
