Thanks again

Will either let Dealer do it
Else my car can run for up to 30mins electric alone, then top up by petrol engine laugh.png

Sadly you don’t have a choice, just need to have in ready and hopefully I won’t take too long. The last update went quick and I thought it had failed, I even attempted to the update again from scratch. Toolbox confirmed the update worked.

Would be far better if they would let you update direct from the car via phone connection.

I wish it would connect to WiFi or bluetooth and update. Instead you use a usb stick, first to download from the car to the usb. Then connected the usb stick to the pc and toolbox adds the updates to the usb stick. Lastly you plug the usb stick back into the car and then the update will begin. This cannot be interrupted and then the head unit reboots.

Sounds better if Dealer does it

Will it be same price?

Or additional labour on top?

The update is easy to do yourself, as for the cost it’s not cheap. Mothers was free, either because she had only just bought it second hand or because the car is still under the original warranty until next year.
So I don’t know what it will cost, but I did hear it was £100+

I’ll find a usb later and check.

You can with T2 with G - but you still need to run the engine (or whatever you do in a hybrid ). I would worry about a drop in connection though so I still prefer a local update.

At least now you can choose to update only the maps that you use rather than all of Europe - that saves a lot of time for me.

p.s. I think that I can probably beat both of you combined with PCs ...

There is an update for the current map which is 2015. There is a new 2017 map. Wonder what the difference is.

Might try updating the cure one and then decide on the 2017.

Just my luck the server is down now.

In the Auris I use tomtom or Apple maps app.
I’m getting the free update at the moment for the old map and depending on how it looks I might take the gamble and buy the new one for mother.
