The night of new tyres from Costco, I drove home ok

But, when I got home, I decided to open the window to park (dont ask me why), I heard a strange 'slapping' noise - it made me think "maybe the new tyre stickers were left on the tyres and they hitting the road each time?" 🤔

Past week, I been googling it, looking at it and all sort of reasons came up..

1. Low pressure

2. Grit in tread

3. Loose under tray

4. Not a droning noise, nor mechanical , but clearly makes ONE sound per tyre rotation and sounds like if left tyre stickers on (or wheel brushing something inside) or could it be something INSIDE the tyre???

Short of removing the wheel, will be taking back to Costco to investigate....😒

hopefully you wont have lost the slidder and it will still be in the rubber boot

at least you have found the culprit and its an easy fix.

All done!

Toyota (AA) came within 90mins

(Quite good, got online check ref arrival. And an email report: "

Fault found o/s/f brake calliper bolt missing fit new bolt

"

AA man sorted me out with a LUCKY bolt that happened to fit 😁

is it just a bolt the AA has screwed in or is it a proper slide pin

if its just a bolt thats been fitted to get you mobile then make sure

it is replaced with a slide pin, slide pins aren't expensive

its a different arrangement for holding the brake caliper on on the auris so no need to worry

the AA is correct in what they have done, the slidder pins are attached to the carrier and then

you have the bolt to hold the caliper on.

the brakes have 2 pins that the caliper slide on when you use the brakes and i thought

the slide pin had come out but in fact it was just the bolt on the end

sorry if i have made you have concerns

So are you sorted now or do you have to take it somewhere after a temporary fix?

Perm fix the AA man said

But, i think i will write to Toyota to see what they think (had new pads/discs from Toyota in April (i think)) - AA man said if bolt missing then brakes would have come off earlier - so we think bolt was loose and finally came off when i had the tyres replaced at Costco (as inside thread hole was spotless!) 🤔

Just filled up again today. Not done as well this time. 410 miles and it took 39 litres. Have been using the demister a lot lately.
Still happy though.
In comparison to the 1st gen Auris, I’m doing no worse at this time of year.
Glad I changed to the TS, picked up a 2.06 meter flat pack from ikea and just had to move the front passenger seat and tilt itforaward to get it in.
L
One thing I didn’t have before, is the heated seats, so 8 can keep warm without have the engine running. That does help keep you on ev.

Wow

Nice one Ant!

I noticed the Toyota Yaris Hybrid courtesy car stayed in EV mode a lot longer and even when pushing the pedal too 🙂

oh, how i missed my Skoda heated seats, heated front windscreen, leather, dual climate, MP4 player and can move a house in the boot too 🤣

For the space of those Auris I used mine to move the house earlier this summer and with the seats down I managed to transport a wardrobe and Ikea day bed plus 2m long mattresses so can’t complain at all. 👍

Still preferred the old autos to the Yaris we had any day. In the 5 years between the first autism hybrid and this one, just makes things better.

Preferred the old style fuel gauge with bars instead of a needle.

with the exception of the heated front windscreen I believe that all of those are available in an Auris depending upon trim. 😛

Really?

Adaptive HID headlights

Twin boot

Umbrella in umbrella holder in door

Electric seats with memory

Satnav in stereo dash + speedo dash

Air cooled glove compartment for cold drinks...🤣

Those are different features ... 😛

Not sure about HID but LED headlights (which are as good/better) are available in current Auris

Electric, heated seat, yes (memory not sure - Avensis & RAV did).

Twin boot, I would have thought so but probably according to year/trim grade. When I looked at Skoda estates to get a level floor required a factory build option at additional cost - Toyota as standard 😉

Where is the Skoda hybrid? Did yours have Intelligent Park Assist (or equiv)? 😛

Can I start using the new Corolla specs. for comparison? 😛

(PS which Skoda did you have - we aren't comparing a Superb to an Auris are we? 😝)
