I don't think your car is radically different from mine ie the lighter socket panel sits just ahead of the gear lever, it's a soft plastic panel with the lighter socket and space for other switches to be fitted. I've had mine off but never took any photos unfortunately.

You don't need any special tools. There's a little closing panel to the right hand side of the switch panel which you just pull out - it's only two prongs hat engage in the dash - but you'll need good strong nails to pull it. After that remove the gear lever surround trim - again it just pulls off. You'll have to lift the gearstick gaiter out then prise the top trim panels out (upwards) all the way back, again they're only held by prongs that pop into the console side panels. The lighter socket panel is then fully accessible and needs to be separated, again I think by hand but there might be a screw there but if there is it's not hidden. Re-assembly of all the panels is straightforward, they all just pop back into place. They're made of soft touch plastic and quite forgiving.

If what I'm saying doesn't make sense then post a picture of your dash to see if it's different from mine.

you could connect direct to the fusebox?

If you want parking mode the aux socket will be dead when switched off anyway.

Fuse no. should be in your manual & if your aux socket is dead when the car is off then connecting to that fuse should have the camera off too.

I am just about to install a Dashcam in my car after somebody "lent heavily" on my front bumper (obviously a white car going by the paint left & I can see the outline of his bumper on mine) whilst the car was parked up & scarpered without leaving a note. As such I am installing a camera with a pre-buffered parking mode - recovering the cost of the Chipsaway bill would have paid for the camera if it had already been installed (had been thinking about it :disgust: ).
