2012 Avensis D-4d Vs 2015 Avensis D-4d.

Hi,

Until earlier this year I had a 2012 Avensis 2.0 D-4D, which I replaced with a 2015 Avensis 2.0 D-4D (not the new model with the BMW engine). Both have the six speed manual gearbox.

The new car has now covered approx. 11,000 miles, so is run in, but seems to be performing differently than the old car. I've noticed that the 2015 car is far quicker to respond at low revs (and revs much more freely than the 2012 car), however, seems to have less mid-range torque.

Does anyone know if Toyota has re-tuned the engine slightly? The Toyota dealer didn't mention any changes, and they are usually the first to point out any improvements!

The 2012 car had only covered approx. 50,000 miles by the time it went back, so I doubt that the engine would have slackened off to the extent that would cause such a difference in performance.

I've tried Google, and searching other forum posts, but can't find anything, so was wondering if anyone can shine any light on the situation.

Thanks

Ben

was your 2012 a facelift or a very late registered original T27?

There were significant changes to the 2.0 D4D for the facelift from the original T27.

Devon Aygo would know if the facelift engine has been further tweaked since then.

Hi Heidfirst, thanks for your response. The previous car was a facelift June 2012 car. The cars look identical, which is why I'm surprised that the performance is different.

  • 2 weeks later...

Which one perform better, 2012 or 2015?

What is the fuel consumption for both? I don't think there's any difference in the engines.

Regards
