My First Service Since Getting The Iq In July.

I put in Einstein for a service on Friday as the ODO was nearing 82000 miles and I thought it would be good to do if I land a new job in Manchester and I needed the car to be able to do the daily run up/down the East Lancs road.

Picked up Einstein this morning and the service cost me £228.

My local garage (http://www.maghullgarages.co.uk/) said a lot of the cost was the sparks as they had not been changed at all with the previous owners when it was at 60k, and the sparks are quite expensive for the IQ as they had to get them in. I said I knew the sparks wasn't replaced as it had several services at Toyota Devon and Johnsons Toyota in Liverpool and I could see this from the service history.

Now the sparks have been changed, I have noticed the vibrations are not as bad when it hits the 2000rpm.

When l had new plugs on my iq3 I got them from eurocarparts, £7ish each and had Hiq fit them, £40. So im not surprised by the cost of your service. After fitting my car seemed to have a slight missfire, I went back to Hiq who couldnt find a fault. I bought a spare plug, plug spanner (odd size) and various socket extensions and eventually managed to get the plugs out. One was discoloured so replaced it. Touch wood it is now running ok. My point is howerver its a faf to change the plugs. You have to undo several almost inaccessable nuts, to remove the (plastic) manifold 2 water hoses, (have some drill bits to bung in hoses) a new manifold gasket, lots of patience & several cut fingers later, and hope u dont drop the manifold nuts when putting back otherwise you have to take it all to bits to retrieve them. Progess, I THINK NOT. Thank god its only every 60 or in my case 50 thousand miles. Best of luck Colin
