Are These The Right Brake Pads?

Hello! I have recently bought new front brake pads and discs for my 2001 Avensis. But i'm not sure if I have bought the right brake pads. Unfortunately I can't look at the old ones because the car is far away from me.

It's an 2001 with drum brakes in the rear. I have the caliber with the 7mm hexacon screw.

Here's a picture with the ones i've bought: http://sv.tinypic.com/r/w7cx15/8

They are for the cars with rear discs.

The pads fitted to my Avensis 1998 Mk1 are like the following: post-76861-0-96689300-1443268607_thumb.j

There is normally a groove or slot in the middle of the pads, but the shape is the same. The car has rear drum brakes.

I have seen the pads in your picture, on the front of a friends vvti Avensis with rear discs.

May not no!

They are for the later brakes where you have to undo bolts with a spanner, instead of the using the 7mm hex tool.

Go back to the place you bought them from and change them for the earlier pre-vvti brakes with drums on the rear 1997-2000.

You can cut a slot in those type of pads, Konrad, if you want to.Just put two blades in a hacksaw and saw away. It helps dissipate brake dust - and water too i believe.

Tom,

They are old ones I changed when the discs had judder/warp issues. The replacements have the groove.
