Electrochromatic Rear-view Mirror

Hi,

When driving at night, it seems the rear view mirror doesn't auto-dim? Is this the result of having a tinted rear window? If I block the rearward facing sensor (the one that sees traffic behind the car, so it thinks it is totally dark) I don't see any change in the mirror.

Blocking the sensor would make the mirror return to normal, the sensor detects light specifically the headlights of cars following you, the brighter the light the darker the mirror will tint. Also it is turned on ? you should see a green led to indicate it is on.

Hi,

Yes - the green light is on.

When I cover the sensor, the mirror does not appear to change, and I'm wondering if the tinted window is affecting its operation?

The mirror does not tint due to darkness it responds to light eg headlights covering the sensor will have the opposite effect and make the mirror lighten only when light hits the sensor will the mirror tint

Hi.

To prove Devon's answer, which is correct, I suggest that you shine a bright torch at the sensor when it is getting dark outside or when parked in a garage.

This will confirm to yourself that it is working correctly.
