Oil Consumption On An Auris 1.4 D4d

Can anyone tell me what should be the normal oil consumption on a 1.4 D4d engine on an Auris??

Mine seems to be doing about 1000 miles to 1ltr of oil..

Seems a bit excessive to me as my old 1.6 petrol never moved hardly between each service...

Thanks guys and look forward to any info you might be able to provide...

Toyota reckons up to .5 litre of oil per 620 miles is acceptable.

Flippin eck.... so really you have no option but to buy a spare bottle of oil when the car has been serviced as it only holds 4.5l topped up so its basically empty after doing 5000 miles...

My stepdads got an Avensis 57 plate and thats got the engine with the oil usage problem and hes filling it up about the same as i'm doing to this Auris...

Not a happy bunny.... Its not as if the oil is cheap either is it?

I wouldn't be happy in the least if mine was burning as much oil as that so i know how you feel. If you're using 0W20 oil you might want to step up a grade to the heaviest allowed in your handboook iaw the temperature/viscosity diagram. Obviously when your engine is still in warranty you don't want to go outside what the manufacturer stipulates. I'm an old Duckhams 20W50 man myself, a lot of manufacturers these days are recommending the super light oils to get the maximum mpg out of their vehicles but it's no economy for the poor owner if he has to fill the engine up more between oil changes.

Toyota had a number of issues with the 1.4 engines' oil consumption and oil dilution but yours should be well beyond all that. Have a look at this video, however, it's quit interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4qwFE8jTzc

Im currently using the 5w30 C2 Low Saps as purchased directly from the main dealer...

Im about to take it back in the next few days as I have now done between 500 and 1000 miles since they topped up the oil and they are doing an oil consumption check...
