Hi all,

I am wondering if all the mk 3 windscreen washers are rubbish or just mine. It works well at motorway speeds, but at any as than 50 mph it only washes the bottom half of the window. Does it sound faulty or typical?

Seems fine on ours, even when stationary.

Mine's rubbish too at any speed. Very little hits the screen with most of the water being squirted at high pressure everywhere except the screen itself! Most of it going over the roof and to the left of the car. I've never really checked, but is the jet adjustable?

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure about the Auris similarity but the Mk 3 Yaris, with a single screen wiper, has the washer jet fixed to the wiper arm close to the spindle.

The problem seems to be too much pressure and flow rate which propels the water everywhere except the screen!

Yes, the mk 3 has the single wiper. It works ok first squirt as the water gets squirted most of the way along the blade, but once the wiper is moving the water barely gets half way unless at motorway speeds.

Fair enough, it was worth a shot. Only other suggestion I would make is to confirm that they have been like this from new (that is poor spray pattern), if so then it seems like a design issue. If not and they have deteriorated over time, then I would still look at giving the jet outlets a clean.

Hope you get it sorted.

Mine works fine at any speed but I always switch the wiper on before operating the washer to ensure that the water covers the screen.
