Hi guys,

Noticed a slight 'grinding' noise from inside the engine when the car is idle at 1000rpm , but when the clutch is depressed the noise goes away <_< . Its not the timing belt - any ideas as to what it could be? im sure its not a feature of the car!

i have the same kinda noise.. i think it could be the clutch bearing... I had mine looked over when it went in for the timing belt change and the mechanic said its notin to worry about for another few thousand miles...

If you press the gas while the clutch is depressed.. does the noise seem to speed up with the revs? If so.. then its defo like mine...

hope that helps mate...

Yea I get the same chatter or "rough" mechanical sound and when the clutch is dipped it dissapears completly. Its pretty normal. Every mid-engined car ive been in has this characteristic.

Yeah, I get that too but only when it is very cold and the engine is cold. The noise goes away once the engine starts to warm up. I'm pretty sure it is just the thrust bearing, nothing to worry about I think.

i dont have this noise but then the clutch on this is new(ish) but whoever done it didnt grease the thrust bearing.

this is a part of a car ive never touched before and was curious wether i could tackle this myself?
