Are 7 Gen Celica 190's Rare?

I bought one last year for £950 in good condition, It just flew through the last MOT with no advisories.

I was looking YouTube and other sites about modifications, and people seem to talk about doing the 1ZZ to 2ZZ engine swap... which mine already has. On eBay can only find one that has sold for £1750 and another listed for £3k.

When I started looking for the 190, there were several within 100 miles listed, but now I can't seem to find them.

Edit: Autotrader does have 14 nationally.

Side question: Mines X Reg (2000), which I believe the T-Sport was from 2001 onwards, but the specs are the same. Is mine technically a T-Sport?

The 190 was available from 2000, which is what your car is. There is quite a difference in specification between the 190 and TS..wheels, sunroof, spoiler, leather, multi CD, lens surrounds, to name a few.

As you say, the TS wasn't announced until 2001, with the pre face lift T Sport's being "few on the ground"..

Whats the difference in spec exactly? Mine has stock spoiler, leather seats, electric sun roof etc. Stereo is after market, and so are the rims, so not sure on those. also comes with body colored stickers over a part of the rear lights which I haven't seen before, but doesn't look like someone has added them afterwards.

190 over the TS = Sunroof

TS over the 190 = 17" wheels, spoiler, two tone leather, multi CD, lens surrounds, dynamic lip, dynamic skirts. The last four on that list are pre face lift only, as the dynamic pack was deleted for the face lift TS.

Your rims, spoiler, and H/U should be declared to your Ins. Co. as modifications

HTH :)

As I don't have the original spec list, as far as I know the car came with those so no need to tell insurance anything. Never had a problem before, my brother modifies every car hes ever had, and any claims on insurance have never been a problem. So really not bothered about that.

Apparently spoiler came with the car. I do also have the front lip and sides. I also have the 2 tone full leather seats. Can you show example of the lens surrounds as I'm not sure on this one.

Just read the main difference is that T sport comes with traction control which greatly increases insurance. 190 doesn't which is better IMO.

You're wrong on every count, and as I think I'd be wasting my time trying to persuade you otherwise..let's just leave it at that.

Never heard of anyone having an issue ever. In fact, scrappers are more than likely to not say a word about mods because they want the parts to sell on, happened when my brother wrote off his car. I recall having this same conversation with you a year back actually when I first got the car.
