Hi,

I've been wondering about checking the tyre pressures, but I'm wondering with the car having TPM, whether this is required?

What are the thresholds/limits for the TPM system alerting to a low pressure condition in a tyre?

The tyres look good on pressure by visual inspection.

As I understand it, any time the tyres are checked/inflated, the TPM systems needs to be reset. Is that correct?

Really?? That's annoying...

Do they just detect pressure drops then, or can they sense actual pressure and trigger an alarm when it drops below a certain level?

The problem with modern tyres is you can't inspect them visually, and it's very difficult to inspect them by feel too. Most tyres will look 'alright' right down to 20psi before they start to look noticeably odd. (Well, unless you have a particularly heavy car  )

I used to be in the habit of checking my tyres every weekend before I had the puncturesafe goop put in, and I reckon I'd have to add a PSI or so every month on average (Damned speed humps!). Now that I stopped using it, need to try and get back into that habit again!

My understanding its the sudden drop in a tyres pressure that's detected, not the gradual change in one or more (all) tyres. Although I could be wrong. So should still check with your weekly checks.

Yeah, it's a good habit to get into, along with checking the oil and other fluid levels!
