2015 Facelift Auris Hsd - Radiator Blocking

Used to do this with the Gen 3 Prius with good effect (3-4 mpg).

Any advice on the new Auris.

I wouldn't try it with mine, i know that. Mine's heats up pretty fast and i've no complaints about the heater in winter. The trouble with blocking off the rad is when you hit city traffic, if you're stuck in stop-and-go you're faced with the possibility of overheating and boiling over.

I knew a guy who made a blanking system of metal slats i could only best describe as like a venetian blind which was lightly spring loaded towards the open position. He controlled it with a cable arrangement from the drivers seat and it worked OK.
