All 4 Tyres Changed - How Long Till Break In?

Hi

After 15k miles my T-Sport Bridgestones looked a bit bare so I replaced all 4 tyres for some Pirelli 6000's (Reasonably priced and good reviews). So far the tyres look good and are quiet, but the car seems to have a lot of roll when taking the bends. I put this down to the tyres being fresh and needing to be broken in. Am I right? Has anyone else had all 4 done and had this? How long does it take before they feel right?

Cheers

The extra roll may be down to a slightly weaker side wall on the new tyers.

Just give them some stick from the off ,once there warmed up you should be feeling the full potential of the tyre, however its likely the extra roll will still be there but unless your flat out on the limit constanly it shouldnt really matter

never had any probs with mine on an mr2, try play with the tyre pressures (maybe a bit low). As far as I am aware tyres dont need breaking in, just get the coating of them which won't take much and they should be fine.

id advise to give them a couple hundred miles before going hell for leather as they have a coating on them that preserves the rubber when they are in stroage to stop them perishing. and this doesnt take long to rid though. maybe a week of normal driving?

hi

i had the same problem i bought the goodyear F1 15" and could not go round islands more that 20mph with out the body roll and screeching so i just bought some 4 michelin exaltos 2 the same as the cilo 182 cup has fitted....

now i can go at 15mph quicker and body roll has been reduced to what it was before i did notice that the goodyear where very soft.

you might need to buy some more...like i have thats 500+ i spent on it and 4 tyres now sat in the garage...

oh i done 3k on the goodyear and no change...

so my advance is anyone is to get some michelins or the Bridgestone OE...

we live and learn....iam michelin man

aye..if anything they will get worse, as the tire softenens even more.

Sounds like you've got a soft walled tire....but at the same time..I'd say you've probably got more grip...although probably lost in the twisties due to the lean.

They definitly don't need breaking in...not exactly slicks!

I remember Yokohama advan tyres had to be run in for 100 km not exceeding 100kph. this is to allow the tyre to vulcanise properly

Thanks for the advice guys, today they felt a bit better so I am hoping they will be 100% soon. Still feel very different to the old Bridgestones though. ;)

ive just opted for the original bridgestones on my 17's as i thought they were awesome on the original wheels

not cheap though @ 100 quid per corner!

To be honest I really like the Bridgestone’s that come as standard on the YTS, no complaints so far.

I’ve always used the 100 mile principle for new tyres, no harsh cornering or heavy breaking or high speeds for the first 100.
