Auris 2.0 D4D Remapping

Lol, thought so.... I was told my remap was written to give an increase of 30bhp and 40nm.....does that sound about right........

The car kinda feels like my old tuning box, when fitted.

On a side note. What would happen if I refitted my tuning box along side the remap... Would I get another 30bhp, blown engine.... Lol

Hi wastedagen, you should get your car on a dyno to get some accurate readings!, it's sound like you've just been given a guesstimate. When I got mine remapped I got a graph with before & after readings!

Mike I fully agree!

I would never get a remap done without a dyno!

Specifically because every car is different and I have quite a lot of mods and would want the map to match these not just a generic map.

£200 - £300 of my hard earned cash on just a say so without a shroud of evidence/readout sounds cloudy to me!

Ok a couple of things we are finding stock vehicles to be going to around 165 and to around the 380-390nm seems to be sensitive to the fuel used and general state of the car mechanically ... Every car is different correct now a lot of companies use quantum because they customise and tailor the maps according to car readings sensors and the general state when they are told now we at my place are completely in house so whilst many of the mobile dealers don't have dynos due to £16000+ price tag for a decent second hand unit it's beyond cost effective many use a test drive scenario with live readings being taken as that's as real as it will get due to dumps also having a certain amount of flex in the number provided due to calibration there is a small percentage .... Now I mapped nearly 10 cars last Saturday whilst at a meeting they had they went to a dump yesterday and got pretty much what I told give or take about 1bhp ... On the tuno g box front , I don't condone using a tuning box along with a map you can but at your own risk ... It's very easy to map mods in as well ... The other reason as well for dyno issues is many cars need their ecu removed to carry out a tune ... The majority of tuning companies all operate similarly now carry out a tune tell you what it produces then stick it on their dyno you get that figure they tell you but charge in excess of £100 more on top of the map to prove that yet if you go to another mapper and they do it for say £199 like above a dyno test for 3 runs cost around the £40 to £60 pound mark ... So much cheaper rand then it's an independent dyno run so males you feel like you might not be getting a clean untampered run ...

  • 3 weeks later...

Well I've had my remap for about 3 weeks now and I have to say I'm going to be putting it back to stock in the next few days......

I primarily got the remap for better fuel economy, but I have had no such luck. In fact I've taken a hit. A big hit...... I have gone from getting 650-680 miles per tank down to 525-560.

I have gone through 4 tanks in the 3 weeks, and all 4 returned low mileage.....

I will say the engine seems to run smoother, quieter and has the low end grunt expected from a remap but like I said, I did it for more economy.......

I will revert back to stock and my tuning box and call it quits.......

So does this mean the Denso ECU for the 2.2 dcat has been cracked too? Can you only tune the fuel map or can things like EGR and DPF be switched off too?

Just an update on mine, I originally had a bluespark chip of which I paid an arm an a leg for, it was fantastic for 4-5 weeks on the base setting, but I didn't buy it for that I wanted power, hence I turned it up, after 20 mins travel, limp mode and EML.

So I got rid and got a full refund.

I had survived without any form of chip until 2 weeks ago when I saw a dtuk pdi chip on sale of which I paid £100.

Website states £399 at time of purchase, so I had my reservations, nonetheless I went for it!

Jesus h *****! Somebody swapped my cars engine, surely? What a massive difference! I wish I had gone for dtuk first off! Amazing! Definitely recommend, I'm on full setting, no problems.

Long term arguments, here nor there, not bothered!

Can't see the point in a remap after this and for such a discounted price.

Any questions welcome.

Aggo is the box also on the boost loom or just the fuel rail ... My old bluespark was running fine until I swapped it out dmfor the map .... Grey wolf the 2.2 some have been some haven't been even though it's a Denso it's a completely different ecu...

The map is different it alters many factors of the ecu and tailors in any extremities and mods ... A tuning box is different ... They are good but it will work on any Auris 2.0 or 2.2 depending on what you have a map will not as its specific to your vehicle.

It hooks to the injectors, it's the PDI model.

I think because of my other mods (induction and full exhaust system) that the chip has responded really well for me.

Of course a remap would give me greater gains, however it's £200 of dead money, whereas I get to sell my tuning box when I sell the car and as it's probably lost all its resale value I'll get back what I paid for it.

It litterally feels like a new car, probably keep me interested for another year until I take the plunge at get a landie defender and pass the auris to the missus.
