Under the air vent next to the drivers door

Where it can be fixed securely and seen clearly from your drivers seat. If you use other devices like sat-nav and mini-cab PDAs, you don't want obstruct and clutter your dash.

You could make a bracket and place the screen just left of the instruments. The bracket could be made of sheet metal, bent and contoured, so that it fits through a suitable gap, and does not leave visible holes in the dashboard.

It takes a bit of thought and improvisation to fit these things.

Why make a bracket when Brodit sells brackets that are made for the car?

They also make holders that you attach to the bracket that holds your device. They have them for a few Parrot models:

I have mounted my phone on the dashboard with a bracket and holder from Brodit but if I were to mount a handsfree unit, I'd probably try to find a spot where I could use double sided tape to attach it. The reason for this is that I suspect that there might be increased squeaking noises from the dash because of the bracket that goes in the gap between the dashboard and the radio surround. I should add that there were squeaking before I installed it and that I'm not good at ignoring irrelevant noises.

The mute cable may not need to be connected. The Parrot system should mute the stereo audio automatically.

Once you have connected everything, run the Parrot to make sure everything works. The stereo should not work unless the key is turned to accessory mode. If stereo does turn on with the key out then, swap the fuse holders. With the Novero system, it had a audio warning if the power cables need reversing.

Once you are happy that everything is working well install the Parrot into the place you have chosen.

I didn't connect the mute wire - my Parrot muted anyway as Konrad says. However if you do work out where to connect it... the cd might pause when on the phone rather than just being muted.

To fit mine under the rhs dash vent I cut and shaped a piece of thin metal (I used a tobacco tin lid), screwed it to the back of the parrot screen and jammed it in behind the dash vent as I pushed it back in. It worked much better than my first attempt at sticking it on.

I can't remember whether I swapped the red and orange around or not. Check which one is permanent live and compare to the install manual.

The blue box went under the bottom right of the dash, and the mic went up beside the interior light at the rear view mirror. Sorry I didn't take pics.

In both my cars, the mic is place near the interior light. This is the closest to you and away from the Speakers and the windows if they are open, plus away from the vents.

The Mk3 Avensis post-76861-0-57912500-1447057989_thumb.j Notice the grill of the other built in mic. This was part of my USB/Bluetooth because early Mk3 TR's did not have these features and no music play back via bluetooth.

The cable was run through the gab between light housing and the roof lining, down the windscreen a pillar housing, into the dashboard. Then plugged into the main device.

I had to run the cable towards the windscreen side, due to the curtain airbag post-76861-0-08085400-1447058011_thumb.j

"I" if you did not get the Parrot, the system I installed in the Mk3 was actually meant for the Mk2, your car! http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/169513-added-usbbluetooth-adaptor-to-w53828-in-avensis-mk3/

As I documented, it works through the stereo and through the steering controls, for full control integration.
