Usb Problem

I am using the same memory stick I used to use in my old Prius+ T Spirit, which had the older touch and go system. I now have a new Prius+ with Touch and Go2+ and all the fun of google search etc. Only problem I am now having with this is the system always defaults to the USB. So if I am listening to the radio for instance and get out of the car, when I get back in the radio is on for a few seconds until the USB initialises then it starts playing that. No matter what mode I am in, the USB starts playing every time I start the car. Is there a setting I am missing, maybe something wrong with the USB stick? Or is this a bit of a bug with the system?

I don't know how you got it NOT to default to USB in your older T&G system because my previous GT86 had T&G and that always defaulted to USB of it was plugged in... My 2014 Yaris with Touch 2 system also defaults to USB if it is plugged in and I don't think you can change that action... AFAIK, it is the intended action by design.

Wierd, so if a USB is plugged in it will go to that every time you switch the car on. That seems silly to me and not something I have experiencd on any other car including my old Prius+ and the older Avensis. Still, the system is leaps ahead of the blooming one fitted to my short lived Mazda CX-5.

I'm surprised to hear your CX-5 was short lived, it gets good reviews and at one stage I thought about getting one. Was it really bad?

The car was brilliant, a real peach to drive in every way. The problems were with the infotainment system which just kept failing. The sat nav froze almost every time I used it and the only way to fix it was for the garage to pull the fuse. When I got it the USB would play from the beginning of track 1 every re-start so you could never get through an album. bluetooth was just as bad and neither bluetooth or USB had a shuffle mode. Well, they did a firmware update which fixed the USB starting from track 1 issue but then every week or so it would destroy a USB stick. It then started melting USB sticks. After another 6 visits to the garage and 2-3 week waits for parts each time (they recycle all the parts in the system so stock was always short) it was still melting USB sticks so badly the socket melted. At that point the lease company recalled the car so after changing from a Prius+ to the CX-5 I returned to a new Prius+. A shame in many ways as the CX-5 was a fantastic car, more of a shame is that I got the car in Feb, just 2 weeks before Mazda did a facelift replacing the dodgy infotainment system with a far better one.

Why did I return to Toyota rather than get a facelifted CX-5? My company changed lease firms and at the time of ordering Mazda was not on my list. Returning to Toyota was a no brainer though, it is a great car, cheaper lease costs and the dealers are leaps ahead of any other brand I have had which is almost every brand over the years.

It may be a security feature to stop you leaving the USB stick on view in the car. Have you got the latest software revision for the T&G, updates sometimes remove things like this, or it may be a dealer adjustable setting they can change with techstream.

Thanks for that. For some reason it stopped doing it since yesterday evening. Really not sure what I have done. Maybe, and only just thinking aloud here as someone who works in software/hardware, it had to read the contents of the stick in somehow and as I had only made a series of short trips is has only just finished reading the nearly 60gb of data possibly for the cddb. This is only a guess but glad it is sorted for now.

As for software version that is one I find quite interesting. Looking on the system it is version 4.41WH whatever the WH means but with a map version of 2013 v3, looking on the store at my Toyota it is suggesting I download 4.3.0H which aside from missing the "W" seems a lower version. So again guessing, 4.4.1 has yet to be released on my Toyota.

It takes ~1 year between the data being supplied, coded, tested & released but a 2015 car or it's components could actually have been made in 2014. You would have thought though that the dealer should have checked that it was running the most up to date version on delivery.

Toyota-mapupdates.eu says that the latest map version ID for Touch 2 with Go is 15v2.

W stands for Western meaning you have western european maps

H stands for High meaning you have the high grade software used in Go+ Go Pro navigation systems

The latest maps are 2015 v2 and the latest Go 2 software is 4.5.0##
