Touch & Go Plus 2

Hi there,

Cannot believe we are the only Toyota drivers experiencing these problems.

How many of you think the Multi-Media system "Touch & Go Plus 2" is "Not Fit For Purpose"?

We find that every time we use it with the radio or other Media device, the whole system goes crazy.

Set it up before your journey, don't touch it and its fine, BUT put the radio on, or any other media device (including answering the telephone) then.............

We find ourselves constantly fiddling and playing with the volume levels to get them back to a sensible level.

We understand its because the unit and all its wizardry shares the same volume control, so if you miss your turn, too quick, too slow or just bad luck, the wrong levels gets controlled, then you spend the next few miles trying to get it back to a reasonable level.

Driving us mad and seriously spoiling the love of the RAV4, Spoken to the dealer & Toyota, still waiting for an answer, but early conversations look like they are not willing to change it unless enough people complain.

So prepared to start a petition, as it is really becoming unuseable.

Its not just the RAV4, its all Touch & Go systems.

Happy for any help and advise you guys can help with.

Thanks in advance

Hello,
Re my Touch 2 with Go, I am unable to set the audio volume (voice directions) on the sat. nav., independently from the audio volume of the radio.
I am able to turn the radio off and have only the sat. nav., voice instructions but when both are switched on one is always very much louder than the other?
I have searched the online documentation/videos/FQAs etc. but I can’t find any reference to these controls.
Could someone please help?
Regards,
Peter Lee

Hello Peter
Thanks for your post.
If you click on the Settings Button and then go to General you should then see a volume control setting which allows you to set these levels independently including incoming and outgoing phone calls.
Let us know how you get on and whether you have any other questions.

Had it on our previous 4.3 and on our LC4. Worked fine, no issues. As the poster above suggests, it might be worth going back to basics and resetting all the system parameters.

Fireman & Frostyballs thanks for the reply,

Both the Dealer & Toyota GB says "Thats the way it is" but it is impossible to use.

very hard to explain, but because its one volume control for all the systems, get the timing wrong and the whole system messes up.

We find ourselves constantly fiddling with the levels instead of driving.

Under route guidance or catching the speed camera beep or limit warning and you turn the wrong part up/down.

Turn the radio down, turns the guidance & Camera alerts down, then you cannot here them, turn the radio off, then the alerts are too loud because they were set with the radio on!!

Driving with the Radio on, want to turn the radio down under guidance, whoops sorry!!, get your timing wrong & you can't, the guidance goes down and radio stays on

Completely "Not fit for purpose" - Need your help to get Toyota to change it before other users will end up having accidents!!

It's not you know. I have the original Touch & Go Plus system rather than Touch 2 - there are a no. of complaints that I can raise against the system but, if I understand your description correctly, yours is not 1 of them.

We have had Toyota"s (& Lexus's) since 1998, could not tell you how they worked, they just did.

The new Touch & Go system "just doesn't"

Another silly thing is you can't even delete a destination via voice command! how stupid is that!

More fiddling through pages of menu's while driving.

This option is great ONCE, after the first set up, everything works well, Until you touch the volume control again, when all setting become useless.

Simple answer is to set the system up and never use the radio, drive in silence and talking/singing to yourself.

As far as I'm aware Touch 2 was introduced in 2013. Whilst no system is perfect, if it was as bad as you say, the forum would be inundated with complaining threads.

The plain truth is that, although there have been questions raised re how aspects of the system work, complaints such as yours are very much in the minority.

Our problem is Touch & Go 2 Plus (4.5.0), which has been updated various times over the last few years with many variants still out there. Just because everybody are not complaining does not mean the systems are not floored.

We have had two Verso's, both with "Touch & Go" and both worked fantastic, so what went wrong?

Your absolutely right, Using your trail of thought, lets just watch insurance claims, accidents reports and other incidents in the future and see if any of these were contributed to drivers "fiddling" with Multi-Media Controls.

We are solving the problem by Trading in the Toyota for another manufacture which has a more sensible system.

And on another note,

If you look at Heidfirst post back in November, there was NOT this problem on the "Touch & Go", which ties in with our Verso's.

So this is a new 2015 issue with the "Plus 2" systems.

Assuming every 2015 Toyota Driver signs up and responds to these post, then Frostyballs may have a point.

Some how we don't think this is the case, we are only doing this because we are very Brand Loyal and want to highlight our concerns.

It is with a heavy heart we have to change manufacture, but if Toyota GB aren't bothered, then why should we.
