I cleared the codes on my 98 corolla, and now my monitors are off. Does anyone know the proper drive cycle to get them back on? I failed my smog check because they were not on.

Thanks!

How did you clear the codes?

ECU reset can be done in a couple of ways. I always just disconnect the negative from the Battery terminal and leave for 10 - 15 minutes, reconnect it and go for a blast down the motorway. You can also remove a fuses that power the ECU (I think it's the EFI and/or the ECU-IG fuses) for 10 - 15 minutes and replace them. But I would always dissconnect the Battery before removing/replacing fuses anyway...

I cleared my codes using a scanner. But my scanner is cheap enough that is doesnt show when all the monitors are back online. It just reads all the codes, and clears them after they have been read 4 times.

Do you have a scanner (or otherwise) that can verify 10-15 mins of various driving will reset the ECU? I just dont want to pay more $$$ only to fail my smog again.

I do appreciate your help!
