Sony Wx-C570R Cd Radio Shutting Off. Now Fixed?!

The last month or so the Sony CD radio in my Mk1 Avensis, was shutting down then coming back on, all by itself. It was steadily getting worse, plus the a CD was jammed in the drive.

It got to a stage where it would not respond to any buttons, and would not work. Lucky I have my Novero bluetooth which can play music from my phone.

Anyway I decided to find out if it was worth fixing before buying a replacement. Last week I dismantle the CD section and remove the disc. I went through every connection.

Today I got a multimeter and checked every connection. Then I dismantled the Sony and made sure there was nothing loose that was causing any short circuit.

After reassembling the Sony and reconnecting the Novero and Connecst2 USB/CD changer, everything is back to normal. Only the CD player has not been tested.

Will see how long the Sony lasts.

Further update.

I still had the Sony cutting out and traced it to the CD changer bus cable, plugged into the rear.

The space between the rear of the Sony and heater duct housing, meant the bus cable is bent tightly. I have wrapped insulation tape around the cable at both plug ends and routed the cable so there is less bending. I have ordered a right-angle plug version of the bus cable, which should give more space.

I also fixed the CD drive by refitting the rubber damper mounts and checking alignment. CD now plays.

Recap: the Sony WX-C570R CD radio cassette is connected to a Connects2 iConnect USB adapter, which in turn is connected to a CDX-656 CD changer (10 disc), using the Sony bus cables between the units (5 metre from CD changer to the USB adapter, 1 metre from the USB adapter to the Sony).

Add to this, my Novero Trusty One Blutooth handsfree connected using Autoleads adapter cables, I have a system that is up to date, yet looks standard. Everything is integrated, just plug and play.
