Would A Cracked Head Gasket Burn Oil?

Hi I'm new to this forum as have recently purchased a Toyota rav4 d4d glx 2ltr, I've had problems with it since I bought this vehicle and have already had to replace the turbo, the inter cooler and vsv valve. I have also just had a full service done on it. I drove about 280 miles when the oil light came on so I pulled over in a service station to top oil up when I left services I started blowing white smoke from the exhaust which I understand is a sign of a head gasket failure but I was unsure if the burning oil smell and lots of oil use would be linked to this. Can anybody help

The cylinder head has three things in it: coolant (water), oil, and combustion gas. Any one can mix with any other one if the gasket fails.
