Vvti Celica Over Heating

Hi,

This morning I started my Celica and after about 2 miles the temperature gauge went off the scale. I opened the bonnet and the coolant level was low so I filled it up and ran the car. It then went off the gauge again and I refilled the water. After sitting with the car on tick over I made sure that the water was topped up. Now and again the water level dropped very quickly to which I topped it up. Heater is very cold and the radiator has started steaming, the radiator fans do kick in intermittently. In addition I have noticed the liquid noise has stopped when you start the vehicle up.

Any ideas?

hope you can help...

Jon
