Mot Advisory

Hi All,

When my car went into my local dealer for a service and MOT the rear shock absorbers were found to be leaking. Luckily the car is 4 years old this month , so the dealer said will be replaced under warranty. So all good there. However on the visual examination report there is an advisory for the front suspension saying there is wear in both front mounts. I queried this and was told they are within specification but will need to be kept an eye on.

I am not particularly mechanical and would be interested in anyones thoughts. ie should i be worried about this? Is this usual?

Thanks and looking forward to some feedback.

Regards

Bob

I would take it back to Toyota for an inpection / service - just BEFORE your warranty expires :)

When they say both front mounts are they talking about the shock absorber mounts or other bushes / joints? If it's the mounting bushes for the shock absorbers I'd imagine they'd be changed with the shock absorbers but if it's front suspension mounting point bushes or others they may be classified as wear and tear so not covered.

Good point that sly fox Wayne makes about going back just before your warranty expires. You can always tell a Yorkshireman - but you can't tell him much.

Hi Tom,

Report just states under the sub heading Front Suspension "play in both front mounts mot advise". Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Bob

Aye lad - not as crafty as those north of the border though :naughty:

Bob

I also extended by Toyota warranty by buying an extended warranty offer of a BOGOF - so my 2012 Auris is covered until 2019 now :yahoo:

Maybe of interest to u too?

Wayne.

Is that something you bought through the dealer. Sounds very sensible. So far the RAV has been rock solid and a pleasure to own, but i like to cover all options.

Thanks

I bought mine from here Bob:

http://www.motorline.co.uk/offers/extended-warranties-from-toyota/358/toyota/offerdetail.aspx

U can search for dealers nearer to u to see if they have the BOGOF offer too:)

The Rav4 for average annual mileage will only be £516 for 2 years (including fully comprehensive breakdown service)

All they need is that the car had a regular servicing...

& the Toyota Extended Warranty also includes Toyota Roadside Assistance ~£70 per annum on it's own. The BOGOF on extended warranty was a national offer via Toyota - don't know if it is still on but I too took them up on it for my car. :)

I'll contact my dealer Monday. Typically i only recently renewed my Toyota Roadside assistance.

Thanks

If you buy a new car whilst part way through a years subscription to Toyota Roadside Assistance, they will add the balance of your subscription onto the membership that comes with the new car warranty.

If you take out a Toyota Extended Warranty, I would contact Toyota Roadside Assistance, explain what you've done, and they will probably work something out for you.

If your Rav4 is 4 years old this month - and u just renewed breakdown service for one year?

Then when u buy the bogof extended warranty, confirm with dealer it will start from 12months onwards (which will be the same time when your current breakdown service expires) :)

My bogof warranty only starts when my 5year manufacturer warranty expires :)

I learnt all these courtesy of this forum :)

Yes you're right , i have another full year of warranty so extended warranty would need to start from next december. so no need to do anything with the breakdown cover that will finish at the same time as the 5 year warranty ends. Good spot

Thanks

Nice one, Bob :)

As others said, not sure when bogof will end.

So check when u speak to dealer on Monday!

Also

If they quote u a dearer price than quoted on their website,

Tell them - and they will honour their website cheaper price!

As I rang 3 different dealers and ALL of them quoted me a dearer price than their website! Eeek!
