Hi,

I am after some advice on removing the unit with the interior light and alarm sensor.

I want to fit my dash cam behind the interior mirror and use a feed from the lights (if it permanent live) to power the cam.

any thoughts?

thanks

Allan

My car is the older 2009 Tourer Mk3, and hopefully there has been no change.

I noticed a dead bug in the interior light when I first got the car, so last month decided to remove it.

first using a flat blade screw driver remove the lens by levering the inner side where it is hinged.

The fitting is held by trim clips. Again a flat screw driver or trim removal tools will be needed to release the light fitting by levering these.

I have never removed the light fitting completely, but the above instructions should be on the right track.

Be careful of the sensor systems that are attached!

I've had the T25 light off to add wiring to control some LED footwell lights. They'll all be similar. Once the screws are removed the housing will drop/slide away revealing tabs to locate/support the headlining. Are you sure that you need a permanent live for the dash cam? Would have thought that ACC activated circuits would be required... In that case some cabling may need to be fed into the roof via the screen pillar.

he will need permanent live if he wants parking mode - mind you in that case also wise to use a Battery protection device just in case.
