Vsc Trc Lights Come On

Hello

I have a Rav 4 2005 2.0 Diesel.

Whilst driving up a steep hill towing a trailer going around 40 mph my VSC TRC lights came on on the dashboard and I lost any acceleration/power whilst going up the hill so had to pull over turn the engine off and wait a few minutes. After waiting roughly 5 minutes I tried again and the VSC TRC lights went out but the check engine light stayed on. After using the car today, the check engine light is still on however the VSC TRC is off.

I have read other forums and topics about this and it says that sometime the VSC TRC lights come on even if there are not any problems with the Vehicle Stability Control and the Traction Control.

Any idea if this is something I may be able to fix myself, if I can carry on driving the mighty Rav 4 or will I have to just take her in?
