Cigarette Lighter

Ok, 1998 1.8 GS, cigarette lighter works perfectly, BUT!! I try to put one of these hazard/warning light things into it, it doesnt work!, Also own a Uniden Bearcat radio scanner (cough cough) to listen to taxis with of course, and that dont work either, what voltage is coming through the lighter socket, I have the correct adapters for both the warning light and for the scanner and there is nothing wrong with either of them.

Also, whilst thinking about it, I noticed that you have to check the AC filters, now in the manual, it says behind the carpet behind the pedals?? where lol, could not see them.

Thanks for any help in advance

Okay, managed to find whats wrong, now see if anyone can help with a cure lol, the adapters for the scanner and the light, are not quite deep enough to touch the live contact inside the lighter socket.

Any ideas on ways around this would be appreciated please, ta

ok now, one more quick question, for avensis 98 owners, centre console, just in front of the drink holders, there is a little plastic piece that can be pushed out, less than an inch square, any ideas where i can get a switch to fit that, preferably with a light of some sort on it??
