Not really Aygo specific but does anyone use a Dashcam?

Thinking of buying one and seen quite a few choices. Those that are built into a mirror type look ok but not sure about the quality

I could do with something that's capable of running on its own Battery for about an hour as I don't want to be routing cabled if I can avoid that.

Any ideas anyone?

I looked into this when I wanted a reverseing cam & in the end found having it fitted & wired was the best route to go down in the end.

depends how permanent an installation you want or if you can live with just plugging it into the lighter/aux socket. I don't know of any that are designed to just run off Battery for any length of time although they may exist but that would make them bigger/heavier.

Another thing to take care with is that there are rules regarding where you can fit it in terms of intruding into the wiper-swept area of the windscreen & also security of mount.

I use the Mobius Dashcam, Just mount it on the windscreen using one of a variety of mounts then plugin into the cigarette lighter & forget about it.

It starts to record on start up & then shutsdown once the engines turned off, loops over old recordings on the sd card.

Have a look at the video:

I use one. As I'll only have my car for another year on pcp finance I just live with the cables coming down the centre of the dashboard to the cigarette lighter. But after being blamed for knocking down a pedestrian I couldn't see and not having a dash cam to back me up, I can live with a cable or two rather than losing my ncb again.

I find having a rear camera does make people back off because they can see it. I leave the camera in all the time.
