Hi,

New to Aygo's having had Avensis's up till now. Mines a 2012 Fire model.

I filled it up with petrol and over the past couple of days have done Birmingham to Cheltenham and back then Birmingham to London and back, trip counter says 350 miles and I have 2 bars of fuel left. While waiting for the other half to pop in the off licence I left the engine running and it went straight from two bars to one bar flashing. The weird thing is it's now gone back up to two bars and stayed there (now on 380miles)

Through reading other posts on here I've learnt that the fuel gauge does go from two bars to one flashing and there is no one solid bar in between. It's odd it's gone back up to two bars though and I've got another 30 miles out of it. I read that there are some problems with sticky fuel senders ? commonly reading 2 bars when in fact it's empty.

Only just got my Aygo so not very well up to speed yet but on the way home from picking it up I decided to fill up when it went to two solid bars from 3, got 30 litres in so only 5 litres sloshing around in the bottom of the tank that must be difficult for any sender to read with accuracy.

It's normal; The fuel gauge gets pretty inaccurate past the half-way mark and will be influenced by e.g. the car being tilted forward or back or leaning to one side or the other.

There's a hill where I park and the fuel gauge can read either a half or 1 flashing block depending on which way it's facing on the hill!

Ah okay that's good to know, I Was parked on a bit of a slop with the engine running.

It took about 33 litres to fill first time after I bought it, Done 400 miles now and it's flashing again so probably a good idea to fill it up.

Do not know what other owners do but I think I will fill up as soon as it goes down to two bars .

The bar type fuel gauges fitted to a variety of Toyota models (including the Aygo, Auris, Yaris, IQ) don't operate in a linear fashion. An example of what an owner may typically experience is pinned in the Auris club - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/157794-auris-133-fuel-bar-fuel-consumption-and-all-that-stuff/

One soon gets used to how the gauge does operate and in normal use doesn't pose any problem.
