Mark X Zio 350G - Seat Swap, Hdd Nav, Tyre Recommendation, Known Issue

Recommended Posts

I have a Mark X Zio 350G, which is essentially a stretched Auris with 206kW 3.5L 2GR-FE & U660E 6-speed auto. (This is the same spec as the Blade Master G.)

It has seating for 6 (2+2+2), while other 2.4L versions have seating for 7 (2+3+2). I'd like to do a seat swap so I could carry 3 people in the middle row. Does anybody know if there is are problems with swapping the middle row of seats from 2 person to 3?

Factory tyre size is 225/45R18 on 18x7.5J alloys. Any recommendations for tyres with better grip that would fit on the factory alloys?

It has a Japanese HDD navigation system. I know this can be loaded with maps for NZ, I'd potentially want to do this myself. Any pointers for changing to English, loading maps, changing radio frequencies?

Any know issues with these vehicles?

The Mark X Zio was never exported to Europe, and as far as I'm aware this is the first post specifically regarding this model on our forum.

Interesting spec this vehicle has with the V6 276 bhp engine and 18 inch wheels. Nice looking car, the first 2 + 2 seating arrangement reminds me of the Vauxhall Magnum, a car which never really took off here. The very back 2 seats (6 seat config) don't look as if there's much room. the closest we have i suppose would be the Verso with its asthmatic 1.8 petrol or 2 litre diesel. The Verso has a 3 seat configuration for the back seat which works quite well with it having a flat floor.
Don't know anything much about these cars so unable to answer any of the questions you ask.

First time I have seen this model.

This is a car from the Japanese/Australian/New Zealand markets, with an engine that big. This needs to be asked in the Australia Toyota forums.

Using my logic, if both 2 seat and 3 seat versions were made at the same time, then both need to be looked at in detail, to see if all the seating fixing points are in place. The carpet may need replacing or cutting for the extra mounting holes.

I had to use another browser to view the photos, and I can see why 3 is preferable to 2!

Can't say for sure as I have never even heard of this model before, but looking at the pictures below, it looks like the mounting is the same - two double rails for both the 2 and 3-seater and comparing the seats and switching between two pictures, it looks like they are the same seats, only connected together with a cushion instead of the armrest.

Hi nz_aj,

I have got ZiO that has 2.4ltr engine and the same Stereo. Did you have any luck changing the stereo to English? (I am based in NZ too). Thanks.

Just a minor correction, my 240G is a 6-seater too. It has the Camry engine.

My issue is a well documented Alternator problem. As Camry 240G alternators tend to break at 130k plus, my one broke at 47k which is unusual. Not too fussed about it as its easy to replace.
