Hi All.

Wonder if anyone can help.

Started my 52 plate T3 VVti 1.4 this morning, first time in 4 days.

Started fine and ran no problem, when I stopped at lights noticed rev counter showing 1100 when normal tick over is about 6 to 700. thought ok stood for a while needs to warm up. However she still did it when at normal temp. Stopped at shop and sat there with engine running, slowly the revs dropped to normal, ticked over for a few seconds then dropped and almost stalled then back up to 1100 and back to normal. Sat there for ten minutes and it did it 3 more times.Normal, drop to almost stall then up to 1100 and back to normal all in a second or two.

Any ideas why and how to cure it. This is the first time this has happened.

The first thing that comes to my mind from your description, is what happens when you disconnect the Battery and the ECU resets and then has to "re-learn", causing the 'tickover/warm up' fluctuations you describe.

If it is that, then those symptoms will slowly disappear after a drive of a few miles.

Many Thanks Oldcodger for the info.

I replaced the Battery about two months ago so cant be that.

As I said in the original post she was standing idle for 4 days so maybe its a piece of dirt trapped in the line somewhere or condensation in the tank.

Did it a couple times today but I have since been out and had her running at tick over for half an hour with no problems, I sprayed connectors etc with some silicon so who knows maybe that did the trick. Will try again later. Fingers crossed. If not local garage tomorrow I think.
