A few months ago, I was moving house and a can of paint spilled in my Aygo, it's basically covering the carpet under the passenger seat. The car's on PCP and it's due to go back next month so I'm looking around at new deals. Does anyone have any advice what I can do about the carpet? I've tried removing the paint myself which has been pretty fruitless. I'm sure I'll get ripped off if I go to Toyota/give it back needing a new carpet – just wondered if anyone had any advice.

Thanks!

Hello Kayleigh - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

What type of paint? Emulsion, gloss ....

If it is something such as gloss which has been there for months, and depending on the size of the stain, you may have to consider replacement carpet, such as -

If the stain can be covered by new mats, you could just get a set of new mats such as -

Hiya, that's the thing, I'm not sure if it was emulsion or gloss now! We used it to paint walls but threw the can out in such a panic when it spilt I'm not sure what it was. I might just have to buy new carpet, I think they'd notice if I just covered it with mats when I give it back! I think probably it's just worth being honest and getting the price of a new carpet included in my new PCP finance cost, unless I can buy one like you suggested and have them fit it.

Thanks for your advice.

if its paint for the walls it will be emulsion so its water based you could try a putting a cloth thats been soaked in hot water

and place the cloth on the paint to see if it will soften you dont want the cloth dripping wet just wet enough so the hot water

can get into the fibres your other option would be to use a steamer, once the paint is softened using a nail brush can help

remove the paint out of the carpet.

could you upload a picture of the paint ,

bet you wouldn't of spilt the paint if you'd been using black paint lol

If the car is on a PCP then it has to go back in good condition, otherwise you will be billed by the finance company to put it back into a good condition. You will then have no control over the costs. The full carpet is under £300 so not too bad as carpet prices go for a car. You may be able to get one from a breaker, you would be looking at a couple of hours to remove/fit. If you want an exact price for the carpet, give me a call on 01978 720074 with the car details
