Advice For Handing Back Car End Of Pcp

Our Yaris is coming up to the three year mark at the beginning of March and we are hoping for a little advice to get it in shape for handing back. From what I can see the following need sorting:

3 alloys may need scrapes/scuffs sorting on them. Any ball park figures on what it should cost per wheel before I try booking in somewhere?

Rear bumper needs a scratch resprayed (its back to black plastic on the corner after being rounded by a drunk driver reverse parking). As it wasn't a large scratch, I decided to leave it until handing back and it hasn't gotten any worse. I was advised at the time it would be a quarter bumper respray required and it would be about £110. Does that sound a reasonable cost?

Has anybody paid the collection fee recently? The last one I can find on the forum was £117 but that was from years ago. Would be handy to know how much it is.

The drivers side wing mirror needs sorting. It got hit from behind whilst I was parked and the red cover broke off completely and the rest was broken apart. Miraculously, it all clipped back together and worked fine so I was able to leave it. However it needs to be in perfect condition under the wear and tear and the edge of the black plastic was clipped off so the main body needs replaced. Is it a fairly easy job to replace myself or should I find somehere to do it for me? I imagine that is the most expensive job required and I want to keep it as cheap as possible.

Are there any other things people tend to miss which may incur a charge? Just replaced the front drivers matt and all others are fine. I will clean the upholstery and vacuum the car thoroughly before the meeting. It still has 400 miles left on the agreed mileage and I don't intend to breach that.

Thanks for any help

Could a local SMART repairer do items 1 to 3 - Chipsaway or similar.

I will check, thanks. I just had a look on their website as I have never heard of them and it implies they sub contract to local specialists. Do they tend to be of a good standard?

Most of their operatives are franchise holders, not subcontractors - much in the same way that most McDonalds restaurants are franchised. I've used them about three times - the latest being a Mazda 2 we had various car park scratches that we wanted doing, and we've been pleased with each job. Chipsaway were an example.

Most dealers use a SMART repairer for minor repairs on part exchanges they are going to resell - you could contact your Toyota service department, ask who they use and see whether they will put you in touch.

I could, but I don't trust a soul at the dealership so will be giving them a wide berth. I get better advice on here.

We took out a PCP on our Yaris last year, they offered us chip onsurance for a 1 off fee, we looked at what it covers and as we are bound to come across some numpty in a superstore carpark who hasn't got two brain cells to rub together, took it out. Toyota will check the car every service and fix any chips or dents found! I think it covers you while you own the car too!

Edit: I don't have the scratch/chip insurance. I have that Bodycare thing and I missed it due to adding it being added together with something else originally, then only itemised separately when I was signing and I missed or misunderstood where they split two things back up.

Hello Dominic

i have the 2011 spirit and have noticed that my drivers side mirror has the black cover not aligned correctly.  When you put your mirror back together, did you have to put the mirror Back last, I.e. To align my black cover I read that I should lift the mirror out first which would reveal the black plastic lugs or tabs and then click it all back together then put the mirror in last? It was a USA forum.

cheers

I don't think we had the same issue, or I am misunderstanding what you mean.  The glass didn't com'e off on mine, but you dont need to touch the glass to get the back cover off or on.  Mine was hit and the red cover was knocked on to the road and the plastics came apart a bit.  I pushed it all back together and then clipped on the plastic cover.  When I replaced it, I needed to replace the whole assy other than the cover.  I've never had the glass out so wouldn't like to guess on clips.
