Using A Lot Of Oil

my 07 Aygo seems to be using a lot of oil ..I recently had it serviced about 10 weeks ago and an oil change with 3 litres of new oil put in and yesterday the oil light came on and it was just about empty

well I had the engine steam cleaned so we could see if any was coming out .which there wasn't and no oil leaks when it's stood overnight

could it just be age/wear and tear its done about 90 thousand miles

How many miles have you done in the 10 weeks, and did you check the oil level after the service (which would have confirmed how full the car was). As far as I'm aware the oil capacity, assuming the car is petrol, is 3.1 litres - so if 3 litres was put in at the service the car would have been slightly underfilled.

My Auris has an oil capacity of 3.4 litres, and the difference between low and full on the dipstick is 1.5 litres. Is your dipstick showing no oil at all, or is it showing as low?

Has the car been topped up since yesterday? Was it topped up to the maximum mark on the dipstick, and, if so, how much oil was used to top up?

I believe there is no way your car would use so much oil without smoking from the exhaust, so have you noticed any smoking? Are you sure there is no leak?

My 07 Aygo uses about as much to be honest :-(
