2007 1.4 D-4D T-Spirit Interior Light

Hi there,

My interior light does not come on when I enter the car. This is a car that has a smart entry and start system.

Now, Toyota decided, in their wisdom, to do away with "normal" switches on the interior light and to rely instead on the driver to carry the smart entry key which, when entering the "entry function actuation area", should activate this light for 15 seconds - according to my handbook.

The handbook, as far as I can see, does not tell you how to turn this function on or off.

Can somebody please tell me how to do this?

Thank you

Ken

Which light are you talking about? The one by the rear view mirrors or the one in the centre of the roof above/behind front seats.

The reason i ask is the front one by the mirror is only a set of map lights which do not operate in conjunction with the doors to use these you push the lamp lens in/out.

The light above/behind the front seats does work with the doors and does have a selector switch on it on/off/door and uses traditional pin switches on the doors to detect doors open/closed

Light activation linked with smart entry can be configured by your dealer, may have previously been deactivated? I've had ours changed to max time on, and 2 min from 30 seconds for the follow me home headlights on our Yaris.

Next time you use your car at night, turn it off and pull the main beam once - headlights will then come on for between 30sec-2min (depending on setting) to light up the front of the car and then turn off automatically - these are follow me home headlights :)
